Sunday, Jan. 24 (today, technically), is the Schubert Honors Scholars Competition! Admitted honors students from all over the nation will compete for possible supplements to their scholarship package. Meaning, more $$$. Smells like a sweet deal to us.
Students will have an hour to write an essay on an unknown topic, and then discuss their essays in a small roundtable group with a professor. Then, since they're here, they're whisked off on a whirlwind of festivities: campus tours, open houses, class visitations, movies, receptions, and recitals. Work hard, play hard. That's the way we roll.
Good luck to students participating! This competition is a big one for us. One can smell the excitement on campus. (It smells like fresh laundry, Cheetos, and freshly printed money). Hey, we might even live-tweet this thing. It's no Golden Globes, but on the plus side, we're rolling out the red carpet for your talent, not your designer outfit.
Come as you are, show us what you got, but most importantly, have fun.
